The Duke of Gloucester was guest of honor at the 2 April opening of the U.K.'s Kent Institute of Medicine and Surgery, the city's first tertiary care center that will offer complex procedures and acute care in a broad range of specialties.
GE Healthcare said it has provided more than 50 technologies to aid in the new facility's mission to provide services in cardiology, cardiac surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, complex orthopedics, and surgical oncology. In addition, GE's finance arm, GE Capital Finance, funded all of the equipment under a bespoke leasing facility arrangement.
GE imaging equipment installed at the facility include CT, MRI, SPECT/CT, digital radiography (DR), full-field digital mammography, mobile C-arm, and interventional angiography.
More than 300 clinical staff will enable the facility to offer private healthcare services, as well as services to the National Health Service (NHS) by agreement with local hospital trusts and NHS commissioning bodies, for patients in Kent, East Sussex, and southeast London, the center said.
