Radiology 20/20 vision; world's 1st x-ray department; Brussels cardiac briefing

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

Retire from work, but not from life, so the saying goes. Dr. Richard Fowler seems to have been listening intently.

Having retired recently from a senior post at Leeds General Infirmary, he gave a visionary public lecture last week about molecular imaging and training. Our reporter, Becky McCall, was in the packed audience, and you can read her report here.

Using 3D workstations for planning endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) of abdominal aortic aneurysms can improve both short- and midterm outcomes for patients, researchers from Lille, France, have found. After adoption of a 3D workstation for performing endograft sizing, the group achieved a significant reduction in the rate of dangerous type 1 endoleaks after infrarenal EVAR.
