The European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR) has launched a three-year project under its EU4Health program to help boost lung cancer screening programs across Europe.

The SOLACE ("Strengthening the Screening of Lung Cancer in Europe") project aims to create clear, concise, and practical guidelines on implementing lung cancer screening programs as well as identify and enroll specific populations that are currently underrepresented, according to leaders.

Over the next 36 months, the consortium will be active in at least 10 lung cancer screening programs across Europe. One pilot project led by Prof. Marie-Pierre Revel, head of radiology at Hôpital Cochin in Paris, will focus on engaging more women in screenings. Investigators will encourage women using a variety of methods, including, "media coverage, local newspapers, and flyers sent together with invitation letters for breast cancer screening," Revel said, in a news release from EIBIR.
