Zap Surgical Systems is highlighting the installation of its Zap-X Gyroscopic Radiosurgery platform at the University Hospital in Olsztyn in Poland.
The hospital, in collaboration with the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, will offer noninvasive brain tumor treatments with the platform. The first patient treatments are planned to begin in early 2023.
Zap said its platform eliminates the need for hospitals to house large quantities of cobalt-60 for radiosurgery beam generation by using linear accelerator technology. It added that the platform also eliminates the need for large concrete radiation treatment vaults.
