Week in Review: Top tech trends in CT | Remy-Jardin's latest lung study | Inside the mind of the ESR president

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

What does the future hold for CT? How is the modality evolving? How will radiologists use CT in the years ahead?

The leading researcher Prof. Mathias Prokop addressed these questions in a visionary talk at ECR 2022. We bring you a summary of his latest thoughts on the continued development of CT. Prokop identified four major trends, and you can find out more in our CT Community.

Fellow chest expert Prof. Martine Remy-Jardin has conducted many important studies in pulmonary embolism imaging over the past three decades. Her research group in Lille, France, is still going strong, and the team has published the findings of a new lung perfusion study. The research focuses on dual-energy CT of systemic sclerosis, and the authors have done a comprehensive job.

Earlier this week, we posted two more video interviews from ECR. First, we spoke with Dr. Adrian Brady about his hopes, plans, and priorities in his new role as ESR president. He also looked ahead to what lies in store at ECR 2023.

Our second video features a fireside chat with artificial intelligence and informatics specialist Prof. Erik Ranschaert. An avid cycling fan, Ranschaert showed his knowledge of the sport by forecasting the winners of the yellow and green jerseys in the Tour de France.

Finally, Italian investigators have found that mammograms performed with women compressing their own breasts have comparable image quality and significantly stronger breast compression. Get the full story in the Women's Imaging Community.
