Week in Review: Consensus on head and neck cancer | Pulmonary embolism in high-risk COVID-19 cases | Patient anxiety over MRI

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

To be brutally honest, the new U.K. consensus statements on head and neck cancer aren't exactly a riveting read. Does point-of-care ultrasound have a significant role to play in high-risk COVID-19 patients? Yes, says a group from Amsterdam University Medical Centers in the Netherlands. Learn more in our news report.

For a while now, it's been widely accepted that MRI exams can elicit stress and anxiety in patients, and this can adversely affect outcome, but less is known about the impact on clinical workflow. Researchers from Germany have attempted to fill the void. Head over to the MRI Community for more on this story.

Dr. David Shepherd is quite rare in radiology these days in that he spent over 30 years working at the same hospital. He helped build up the interventional service in Bournemouth, on the south coast of England. He also had a deep passion for sailing, so he lived in the right place. Don't miss Dr. Adrian Thomas' tribute to him.

Last but not least, ultrasound can provide valuable clinical information about a patient's fingernails and toenails. Brazilian authors won a top prize at RSNA 2021 for their work in this area, and they've shared three intriguing cases with us.
