A Northern Ireland healthcare system's review of 13,030 images interpreted by a locum radiologist has revealed numerous discrepancies, including six that may have had serious effects on patients, according to a news article published 25 August in BBC News.

To date, investigators involved in the review at Northern Health and Social Care Trust have identified discrepancies in 43 cases. Six of those cases may have had "immediate and significant clinical impact" on students, according to the story.

The review includes looking at images from 9,091 patients. About half of those patients have been told their images have raised no concerns.

So far, officials have reviewed 7,902 of the images. Healthcare system officials hope to complete the review by October.
