The European Society of Radiology (ESR) is spearheading an effort to collect information from radiology departments across Europe in a survey on current practice in relation to patient contact shielding.
Recent studies, position statements, and recommendations have raised concerns regarding the utility and effectiveness of the use of patient contact shielding. In 2020, a coalition of European radiologic societies founded the GAPS (Gonad and Patient Shielding) group with the purpose of producing a consensus statement on the use of patient contact shielding, as well as evaluating the current practice of patient contact shielding.
The survey consists of 26 questions and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, the ESR said. The deadline for completion is 1 July 2021. Click here to take the survey.
