The accreditation process for hospital radiology departments in the U.K. is set to undergo a routine external review to ensure imaging quality.
The review will evaluate hospital imaging provision and accreditation provided by Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI), a joint initiative from the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and the College of Radiographers. The body, which sets national standards, is recommended by the National Health Service and Care Quality Commission to demonstrate quality service, according to a statement issued by the RCR on 16 November.
The external review of QSI is part of a routine, four-yearly process. Quality Review Service will lead as the external assessor, and imaging community stakeholders will also provide input on the review process.
The RCR forecasts the revised standard will be available in the summer of 2021.
