The Spanish Society of Medical Radiology (SERAM) is urging the imaging community to help a hospital in Cuzco, Peru, to purchase x-ray equipment to assist with imaging needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a release, the society said it received a request for help from the Hospital Hermana Josefina Serrano. The hospital, which provides care for disadvantaged people within Cuzco and the surrounding mountains, ran out of x-ray equipment in the middle of the pandemic, and the cost for new equipment is 22,000 euros, according to the SERAM.
The hospital is run by Spanish radiologist Dr. Carolina Masia and is part of the Spanish nongovernmental foundation Prodein, SERAM noted. SERUM asked its members to contribute whatever they can.
Donors can contribute to the hospital by providing funds to Banco Santander account ES29 0075 7007 8406 0015 7877 with the recipient listed as "Fundación Prodein" and reasons as "Purchase equipment rayos x." All donations go directly toward equipment, SERAM noted.
