Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,
VIENNA - What a difference a year makes: ECR 2019 opened today under bright blue skies and spring sunshine, and mild temperatures were the order of the day. The big chill and frozen Danube of 12 months ago are distant memories now for the many thousands of delegates.
The opening press conference is always a highlight of ECR, not least because it indicates which themes are going to dominate the scientific program, and today's event proved no exception. Don't miss our live report from the Sky High Stage, overlooking the Austria Center.
Get set for numerous presentations on artificial intelligence (AI) this week. The session on intelligent dose and quality management generated huge interest, particularly new research from Germany about real-time, patient-specific CT dose estimation for single- and dual-source CT using a deep convolutional neural network.
The e-poster prizewinners were announced on day one, and researchers from the Medical University of Vienna were among five magna cum laude recipients. Read about their ground-breaking work on how to simplify the differential diagnosis of diffuse ground-glass opacifications.
We will be posting a series of articles this week about the technical exhibition and product launches at ECR 2019. Today we are focusing on the latest innovations in digital x-ray.
The Maverinck is a regular attendee at ECR and certainly knows the ropes here, and he has taken a light-hearted look at the social dynamics of the meeting.
Finally, keep checking back to our live RADCast for our video interviews from ECR 2019. We'll be posting eight interviews, plus Facebook Live discussions, between now and the close of the congress on Sunday. You won't be disappointed by our coverage.
