The European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR) has revised its guidelines on staging endometrial cancer with MRI.
The updates build on the previous recommendations of 2009 and present strategies to standardize image acquisition, interpretation, and reporting for endometrial cancer staging with MRI -- reflecting new imaging and clinical developments in the field, wrote the ESUR's Female Pelvic Imaging Working Group in the guidelines published online on 11 July in European Radiology.
Several key updates include an algorithmic approach to MRI acquisition, ways to evaluate patients prior to fertility-sparing management, and structured MRI reporting to facilitate effective communication between radiologists and referring physicians.
