New certification offered for German breast radiologists

The Breast Imaging Working Group of the German Radiological Society (DRG) has introduced a new certification for German breast radiologists that enables them to expand their specialist knowledge. The certification was presented at the German Radiology Congress (Deutscher Röntgenkongress, RöKo 2018).

Dr. Markus Müller-Schimpfle, chief physician of the department of radiology and neuroradiology at the Klinikum Frankfurt-Höchst and chair of the working group, outlined the specifics of the certification in an interview with the DRG.

Specifics of the program include the use of breast ultrasound and demonstrating knowledge of breast ultrasound, MRI, and mammography. The certification also addresses continuing education and training.

The certification committee is in discussion with the German Cancer Society to expand its reach.
