After extensively investigating screening mammograms read by a former radiologist over a two-year period, Nobles Hospital on the Isle of Man is recalling 26 women for additional evaluation, according to a report on 9 May by ITV.
Over a thousand other women who received screenings during between January 2015 and March 2017 have also been sent letters of reassurance following the review of 1,213 screening mammograms by experts from the U.K. The radiologist involved in the cases is no longer employed by the hospital, according to ITV.
In a statement, Isle of Man Minister for Health and Social Care David Ashford said the causes of the issue will be fully investigated and that actions will be taken to urgently address it.
