Proton therapy developer Ion Beam Applications (IBA) will install its ProteusOne compact proton therapy system at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) in Milan.
IEO and IBA signed a binding term sheet with a down payment for the delivery of a ProteusOne system, including IBA's latest-generation pencil-beam scanning technique, isocenter volumetric imaging capabilities with conebeam CT, and a long-term operation and maintenance agreement. This will be IBA's 22nd installation of the system. The hospital expects to start treating patients by the end of 2020.
The typical end-user price for a ProteusOne system with a maintenance contract is between 35 million euros and 40 million euros. IBA and IEO have agreed to work in good faith to complete negotiations of the final agreement by the year's end.
