Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,
The final week of December is an excellent time to take stock and reflect on the past year, so I really hope you will spare a few minutes to look over the top 10 stories of 2017 on AuntMinnieEurope.com.
The single most important issue facing the European imaging community was gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs) for MRI, which accounted for four of the 10 articles.
On 10 March, our editorial team broke the story about the recommendation of the Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) to withdraw some GBCAs from the market, and this article is No. 2 on our list, as measured by the total number of page views.
After some slight modifications, the European Commission adopted the decision of the EMA in November, and individual countries now have a year to implement the ruling (see Nos. 3 and 6 in our list).
Although ECR 2017 ended a few days before the March 10 announcement, the ongoing debate over GBCAs featured as the No. 1 item in our top five trends from the congress. Advances in breast imaging also were among these ECR trends, and they accounted for two of our leading 10 stories for this year. Radiation dose and patient safety were other recurring themes.

My colleagues and I wish you all the very best for the new year, and we look forward to serving you in 2018.
