Women's imaging vendor Hologic has begun shipping its new 3Dimensions mammography system in Europe.
The 3Dimensions system features Clarity HD high-resolution 3D imaging and is designed to reveal subtle lesions and fine calcifications to help pinpoint cancers early, Hologic said. Clarity HD reduces recalls by up to 40% compared with 2D mammography alone, according to the company.
3Dimensions also includes the company's new SmartCurve breast stabilization system, which is designed to deliver a more comfortable mammogram. The system features a curved compression surface that mirrors the shape of a woman's breast to reduce pinching and allow uniform compression over the entire breast, the firm said.
