Attendance slipped slightly at the 2017 edition of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) meeting in Barcelona.
Attendance at the 2017 meeting was 26,857 professional delegates, down 1.8% compared with 27,369 delegates at the 2016 edition of the Congress in Rome. Overall attendance stood at 31,705 people, down 4.3% compared with 33,130 in Rome in 2016. At ESC 2015 in London, a total of 27,208 delegates attended and overall attendance was 32,758.
Despite the decline, the numbers for ESC 2017 appear to have held up well, especially in light of the terrorist attack in the city just over a week prior to the meeting's start.
ESC 2018 will be held in Munich.
