Adrian Dixon stars at UKRC | Maverinck attacks 'datarrhea' | Special focus on football injuries

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

Dr. Adrian Dixon is no doom and gloom merchant. In fact, he's one of the most positive, balanced, clear, and upbeat speakers I've had the privilege to listen to during the past 25 years. You always feel better about life when you've heard him talk.

It's of deep concern, therefore, that he chose the plenary lecture at this week's U.K. Radiological Congress (UKRC) to give a strong and carefully worded warning about the future of imaging. Find out more in our CT Community, or by clicking here.

The Maverinck, on the other hand, has different worries on his mind. In his latest column, he addresses the current obsession with data mines, data lakes, data clouds, etc., and he aims to demystify what he refers to as "this foggy datarrhea." Go to the PACS Community, or click here.

As any sports fan knows, the European football championships start on Friday evening. To mark the occasion, we've posted a video interview with a recognized expert on imaging of football injuries. Visit our MRI Community, or click here.

Carrying on the sporting theme, don't miss our article on Paralympic imaging, featuring the lead radiologist at the 2012 games, Dr. Rob Campbell. What are the main differences between imaging Paralympic and Olympic athletes? Get the story here.

Meanwhile, the U.K. Royal College of Radiologists has issued 10 recommendations on reporting standards. They may well become the new Holy Grail for imaging professionals across Europe and beyond. Click here to learn more.

Last but definitely not least, a large new study about the potential benefits of CT lung cancer screening was published last week. For our news report, click here.
