Ultrasound technology developer SuperSonic Imagine has received regulatory approval in Japan for upgrades to its Aixplorer ultrasound system.
Japan's medical device regulatory authority, the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare has approved new probes developed for the device for evaluation of liver disease, prostate cancer, obstetrics, and musculoskeletal assessment. The upgrade also includes a microvascular visualization tool called Angio PLUS.
SuperSonic's distribution partner in Japan, Konica Minolta Medical Imaging, will highlight the system at the upcoming Asian Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology meeting in Kyoto.
