Spanish x-ray developer Sociedad Española de Electromedicina y Calidad (Sedecal) is claiming victory in its patent infringement case against South Korean digital radiography (DR) manufacturer DRGEM and its U.S. distributor Blue Ridge X-Ray.
A jury in a U.S. District Court in North Carolina awarded the company $852,000 in damages. The jury determined that DRGEM and DRGEM USA willfully infringed on Sedecal's patent No. 6,642,829, which covers the arrangement of components within a high-voltage transformer and has been utilized in the company's x-ray high-frequency generators since 2000, Sedecal said.
