European ultrasound market hit 1 billion euros in 2013

Increased concern about the harmful effects of radiation is driving the European ultrasound market, which was valued at 1 billion euros in 2013 and is expected to reach 1.38 billion euros by 2019, according to research firm Frost & Sullivan.

Hospitals are looking for portable ultrasound devices that will help with diagnosis and noninvasive procedures. Competition from Asian companies that offer high-quality ultrasound equipment at lower prices will contribute to price adjustment in Europe, according to Frost & Sullivan.
