Specialist cancer center the Christie National Health Service (NHS) Foundation Trust will be joining an Elekta and Philips Healthcare research consortium aiming to develop an MRI-guided radiation therapy system.
The Christie is the seventh member to join the research consortium, which includes the University Medical Center Utrecht in Utrecht, the Netherlands; the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, U.S.; the Netherlands Cancer Institute-Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital in Amsterdam; Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto; the Froedtert and Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.; and the Institute of Cancer Research, working with its clinical partner the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in London.
