Breast cancer detection scheme considered for award

Breast Health Day is among six projects on the shortlist for the 10,000 euro European Health Award 2012, which is sponsored by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Health and FOPI.

Breast Health Day was first launched in October 2008 to raise awareness and disseminate information about the prevention and early detection of breast cancers. A new campaign is developed each year and includes posters, pamphlets, media backgrounders, a Website, and a digital editorial campaign on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

Current participating countries in Breast Health Day include Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkey, U.K., and Uzbekistan.

The European Health Award winner will be chosen by a panel of health experts and will be announced during this year's European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG) in Bad Hofgastein from 3 to 6 October.
