Imaging equipment provider ImageWorks has signed an agreement in principal to sell its NewTom conebeam CT (CBCT) division to Italian dental equipment manufacturer Cefla Group for an undisclosed amount.
In August 2009, ImageWorks' predecessor, AFP Imaging, sold its Quantitative Radiology (QR) Imaging Division to Cefla and retained exclusive distribution rights for the NewTom products in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Australia, and parts of the Middle East, ImageWorks said.
With this transaction, Cefla will assume sales and service responsibility in these territories for human NewTom 3D CT applications, while ImageWorks retains exclusive rights for distribution of the NewTom product for veterinary applications. ImageWorks will retain its Dent-X, veterinary, and Eva product lines.
