Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems said that more than 450 oncologists, medical physicists, and radiotherapy practitioners attended its twelfth Berlin Oncology Summit held 20-21 October.
Sessions at the event reviewed 10 years worth of data since the first intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) treatments were performed in Europe. Other topics included advanced clinical applications using higher dose delivery systems and the growing use of hypofractionated stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) or stereotactic ablative radiotherapy treatments for prostate cancer patients.
