Philips Healthcare parent Royal Philips Electronics has expanded its position in the anesthesia market with the acquisition of Danish anesthesia firm Dameca.
Dameca develops devices and accessories for the operating room, including MRI-compatible anesthesia machines and patient monitors. The company has also developed accessories such as MRI-compatible trolleys, patient transfer chairs, and products to enhance patient relaxation in the MRI suite, such as ceiling panels with landscape scenes and video systems.
Headquartered in Copenhagen, Dameca is a privately held company with approximately 70 employees. Philips already offers anesthesia machines in select countries through Dixtal Medical, which Philips acquired in 2008.
