Siemens nets 3T MRI order from U.K.

Siemens Healthcare of Erlangen, Germany, has sold a Magnetom Verio 3-tesla MRI scanner to Russells Hall Hospital, part of the Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the U.K.

The order to the Dudley hospital expands its radiology department's MRI capabilities, the company said. The order is part of a managed equipment service partnership with Summit Healthcare and Siemens Healthcare. Siemens has a 40-year multivendor contract for the maintenance of all medical equipment and the supply and ongoing replacement of products such as Magnetom Verio.

Under an additional 15-year contract, Siemens is providing IT services, including an electronic patient record system and network infrastructure.
