Global sales gains contributed to a 5.3% increase in consolidated sales for ultrasound vendor Esaote in 2009.
For the year (end-December 31), the Genoa, Italy-based vendor had consolidated sales of 310.2 million euros ($414.7 million U.S.), up from the 294.7 million euros ($393.9 million U.S.) reported in 2008.
Sales in Italy reached 126.9 million euros ($169.6 million U.S.), up 3.8% compared to the 122.3 million euros ($163.5 million U.S.) recorded in 2008. International sales, which contribute 69.1% of total revenues, climbed 6.3%. Medical IT sales increased 2.5%, Esaote said.
Esaote had 2009 earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) of 41 million euros ($54.8 million U.S.), compared with EBITDA of 38.7 million euros ($51.7 million U.S.) in 2008.
The vendor also said that consolidated sales increased 7.7% in the first quarter of 2010 (end-March 31).
