Radiopharmaceutical firm Ion Beam Applications (IBA) of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, sold a new version of its Cyclone 30 cyclotron to the Institute of Neurosciences and Medicine, a department of the Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany.
The cyclotron will be operational in 2011 and used for research, teaching, and developing new-generation radionuclides.
The institute develops and produces radioactive labeled tracers for diagnosing brain diseases, including Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, and brain tumors, using PET and MR.
