Merit adds to product line

Disposable products developer Merit Medical Systems has added two new devices to its product line and received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its contrast management system, according to the South Jordan, UT-based firm.

The company has acquired rights for a radial artery compression device, Prelude radial sheath, used to maintain pressure following cardiac procedures. Merit also has added to its line a device used for the removal of cuffed catheters. The company did not disclose the price of either acquisition.

In addition, Merit has received clearance from the FDA for its Miser contrast management system, which allows clinicians to track the use of contrast media. Merit expects to release Miser in the first quarter of 2009.

Finally, the company announced that it has received European ISO certification for its Richmond, VA, facility.
