Swiss team advocates use of CT for identifying drug mules

Evidence is growing that CT is better than x-ray or low-dose whole-body radiography exams at detecting ingested or internally concealed illegal drugs. It is rapid, more accurate, and may also be cost-effective, according to an article in the European Journal of Radiology.

CT proves best in foiling cocaine smugglers

CHICAGO - The best way to detect illicit cocaine smuggling by body packing "mules" may be to perform CT scans of the suspects, reported a forensic radiologist at a 2010 RSNA press briefing in Chicago.
