Postmortem CT Imaging Course

This new two-day course will take a closer look at forensic and postmortem scanning and best practices for radiologists reporting on virtual autopsy.

Covering postmortem CT (PMCT), the course will develop interpretation and reporting skills through reviewing a range of postmortem radiology scans, for the investigation of (mainly) nonsuspicious death. We'll also feature some Forensic sessions with a case review. In addition, we’ll take a look at more recent PMCT techniques including angiography and guided biopsy.

Led by Sarah Fleming, Consultant Radiologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, we’ll review a range of cases to support you in increasing your knowledge of PMCT in correlating the pathological artifacts of death, and the ability to recognize forensically significant PMCT findings. We’ll also look at some of the limitations of PMCT and review how MRI is used effectively to determine cause of death.

Joining Sarah to speak on this course, we have Ms. Laura Howlett, Dr. Rachel Bolton- King, and Paul Hunter, to just name a few. As a result of this course, you should feel confident in recognizing what is a normal pathological change to feel more confident in investigating further.
