VIENNA – How should we handle a suspected case of child abuse, or nonaccidental injury? Has the August 2023 conviction of U.K. serial-killer Lucy Letby -- a former nurse -- made the job even harder? And how can diversity and inclusion grow in the workplace?
These are all extremely tough questions. We put them to Prof. Amaka Offiah, PhD, chair in pediatric musculoskeletal imaging at the University of Sheffield, U.K. She is also Managing Editor of the journal Pediatric Radiology and chair of the Child Abuse Taskforce of the European Society of Paediatric Radiologists. She worked previously at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Institute of Child Health, where she obtained a PhD for her thesis, “Optimisation of the digital radiographic imaging of suspected nonaccidental injury.”
