Bruker is launching new MRI magnets at 7-tesla and 9.4-tesla field strengths for use in preclinical research at this week's International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) meeting in London.

The new magnets build on the success of Bruker's BioSpec Maxwell 3-tesla magnet. They don't require refills of liquid helium or nitrogen, and they offer the sensitivity and resolution demanded by advanced preclinical MRI and PET/MR research, according to the company.

Bruker's BioSpec Maxwell product line is designed around easy-to-use systems that are suitable for a range of preclinical applications. The scanners have simplified siting and installation requirements, as typically no building modifications are necessary. They also have small footprints and low maintenance and service costs.

All three BioSpec Maxwell scanners sport conductively cooled magnet technology and have 17-cm magnet bore diameters, high-performance gradient systems, and options to add a PET accessory for PET/MR research.
