A significant increase in the number of professional attendees contributed to a rebound in onsite attendance at this month's ECR 2016. Italy, Germany, and Austria accounted for 2,564 professional delegates, but attendance from the U.K., Spain, and Romania rose most sharply.
A total of 20,071 attended this year's meeting in person, up 2.5% from the 19,569 who made the trip to Austria Center Vienna for ECR 2015, according to the European Society of Radiology (ESR). There were 11,796 professional delegates at ECR 2016, up 3.7% compared with the 11,368 who were at ECR 2015. The congress also had modestly higher attendance from industry representatives; 8,275 were onsite this year, up 0.9% from the 8,201 who staffed exhibitor booths at ECR 2015.
This year's meeting did experience a slight dip in the number of online attendees. There were 5,927 viewers of the ECR Live program in ECR 2016, down 0.7% from the 5,971 who watched online via streaming video last year.
For the second year in a row, Italy sent the most professional delegates to the congress.
