Advanced MR Analytics (AMRA) and GE Healthcare announced at this week's ECR 2016 in Vienna that they have signed a collaboration agreement to market AMRA's Profiler protocol.
AMRA Profiler is a cloud-based body composition measurement tool that uses images from a short MRI scan to produce fat and muscle measurements. The agreement will allow GE to make AMRA Profiler available on its future MR systems, according to the firm.
Assessments of body composition have traditionally been conducted using body mass index and waist circumference measures, but these do not distinguish between different parts of the body and give little information about metabolic status. Precise measurements of a patient's fat and muscle volumes can provide a more accurate assessment of a person's health status, AMRA said.
