COCIR highlights new sustainability criteria

Sustainability

The Coordination Committee of the Radiological, Electromedical, and Healthcare IT Industry (COCIR) noted the publication of new sustainability criteria for purchasing medical imaging equipment.

Developed by the Medical Equipment Pro-active Alliance for Sustainable Healthcare (MEPA), the new criteria are designed to provide companies and purchasers with a common understanding and guidance on how to improve the sustainability of medical imaging equipment, COCIR said. The almost 50 criteria address both the individual product and the supplier’s sustainability performance and include areas from climate change mitigation over the sustainable use of resources to corporate ESG (environmental, social, and governance) performance.

COCIR is a founding member of MEPA, along with the HealthTrust Performance Group and Vizient, the trade organization noted.
