Amid concerns about the coronavirus outbreak, the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) has decided to postpone its meeting scheduled for 3-7 April to later in the summer.
The new dates for ESTRO 2020 are 31 July to 4 August; the meeting's location will remain in Vienna at the Reed Messe Vienna conference hall. ESTRO said the new dates were selected to enable the organization to maintain the same scientific format, city, and congress center.
"This decision aims to minimize the health risks related to the spreading of COVID-19 and to address the increasing inability to travel for speakers and attendees," ESTRO said in a statement. "Considering these implications, we believe that postponing the congress is the best solution to allow participants to attend safely and maintain the high level of quality of the scientific program."
ESTRO becomes just the latest conference organizer to cancel or postpone meetings due to the coronavirus outbreak. Other groups include the European Congress of Radiology, the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
