The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) is among the contributors to a guide for oncology care providers, patient groups, policymakers, and managers on what healthcare systems need to provide high-quality prostate cancer care.

The information from a number of sources was published online on 7 January in Critical Reviews in Oncology/Hematology. Lead author Dr. Maurizio Brausi and colleagues provide specifications, rather than clinical guidelines, as part of the European Cancer Organisation's (ECCO) Essential Requirements for Quality Cancer Care (ERQCC) report on prostate cancer.

"Care must only be a carried out in prostate/urology cancer units or centers that have a core multidisciplinary team and an extended team of health professionals," the authors wrote in the introduction. "Such units are far from universal in European countries."
