The European Union of Medical Specialists (EUMS) has released a set of requirements for training nuclear medicine specialists to serve as department directors.
"Training Requirements for the Specialty of Nuclear Medicine" offers standards for trainees and instructors on establishing and reviewing imaging protocols, laboratory, and physician quality metrics, and supervising other nonspecialist nuclear image interpreting practitioners while also achieving competence to perform all radiopharmaceutical therapies.
The document also includes definitions of specialist competencies and procedures as well as how to document and assess them.
