EANM seeks new committee members

The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) is looking for three to four new members for its newly established Radiation Protection Committee.

The committee's mission is to promote radiation protection for patients, staff, and the environment. This involves not only the nuclear medicine community, but also requires interaction with European Union (EU) agencies and legislative bodies, as well as scientific exchange with different international organizations responsible for radiation protection.

The committee is closely linked to the EANM Dosimetry and Physics Committees via co-memberships and to other committees via respective liaison members. On average, the time needed for the committee work is two days per month.

Candidates must have expertise in at least two of the following fields:

  • Dose optimization for staff and the environment
  • Patient dosimetry in diagnostics
  • Dose and dose rate dependence of cancer risk
  • Experience in writing guidance documents concerning radiation protection
  • Lecturing and/or education experience in radiation protection topics for radionuclide therapy and diagnostics

Close links to national or international bodies responsible for radiation protection would be considered favorable, the EANM added. Evaluation forms can be downloaded from the EANM's website.

The first committee meeting will be held during the EANM 2016 congress in Barcelona, Spain.
