The European Society of Radiology (ESR) is seeking comments this month on the European guidelines for diagnostic reference levels (DRLs) for pediatric imaging.
Despite a large number of studies available from European countries, continental-wide DRLs for pediatric patients are only available for some common radiological examinations.
"There is a need to consolidate what is available and to provide guidance on what actions are needed for using DRLs to further enhance the radiation protection of children," ESR said.
In December 2013, the European Commission approved a 27-month tender project, PiDRL, on the establishment of European DRLs for pediatric patients.
The draft document is now available, and those wishing to comment should send an email to [email protected].
