U.K. cancer care technology developer Endomag has received CE Mark approval for its minimally invasive breast marker Magseed, used to guide surgeons during breast cancer removal.
Magseed is designed to be used by radiologists to mark tumor sites with seeds smaller than a grain of rice, and can be used up to 30 days before surgery. Set firmly in place, patients can return home and carry on with normal daily activities. When it is time for the procedure, surgeons use Magseed and Sysmex's Sentimag surgical guidance system to locate the tumor before making an incision.
Sysmex will distribute Magseed throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa as part of a new five-year contract, which includes the Sentimag surgical guidance device.
