Medtronic has received the CE Mark for its SureScan family of quadripolar cardiac resynchronization therapy pacemakers (CRT-Ps) that allow patients implanted with the devices to undergo MRI scans.
The pacemakers include Medtronic's Percepta Quad CRT-P MRI SureScan, Serena Quad CRT-P MRI SureScan, and Solara Quad CRT-P MRI SureScan devices. Patients implanted with the devices can undergo MRI scanning at 1.5-tesla or 3-tesla field strengths.
The Percepta Quad CRT-P device includes Medtronic's EffectivCRT Diagnostic and EffectivCRT during AF algorithms, which gauge the effectiveness of pacing and automatically adjust therapy accordingly. The devices also include VectorExpress 2.0, Medtronic's in-office test that reduces programming time, helping doctors pick the optimal pacing configurations for each patient.
The company noted that quadripolar devices allow more pacing programming options, which allow doctors to better optimize the delivery of cardiac resynchronization therapy.
