Medical device firm Mauna Kea Technologies has received the CE Mark for the use of its Cellvizio laser endomicroscopy platform in interventional radiology procedures.
The regulatory milestone will enable Cellvizio to be positioned as an adjunct to therapeutic procedures that need direct and real-time image guidance, according to the vendor. The product can provide real-time visualization of tissue at the microscopic level, Mauna Kea said.
Mauna Kea does not expect to be the primary marketer of Cellvizio, believing that full integration of the new platform into an existing interventional radiology setup would lead to more rapid adoption of the technology.
