Radiation detection technology firm Kromek said it has launched eVance, a new line of SPECT cameras with cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) digital detectors.
The eVance systems are based on Kromek's eV-CZT detectors and are fully integrated with advanced application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) and microelectronics technology, the company said. The cameras are designed to be integrated into nuclear medicine systems developed by OEMs.
Clinical data on thousands of patients have demonstrated the superior sensitivity and specificity of CZT-based SPECT cameras, compared with standard scintillator cameras, according to Kromek. The patient benefits from better diagnostic performance and reduced radiation exposure, the company said.
Kromek has begun shipping a small-field-of-view camera for thyroid applications, and it plans to introduce other camera sizes to address specific SPECT imaging applications throughout the rest of 2015.
