U.K.-based MR Solutions has launched a conversion kit that can transform a clinical MRI system into a preclinical scanner.
The alteration can be done in about 10 minutes and involves installing a carrier system linked to the company's Evo spectrometer, which allows for better soft-tissue contrast and molecular imaging capabilities, according to the firm. Evo spectrometers convert radio waves into images.
MRI is used in preclinical research to monitor in vivo biological variables noninvasively and track disease progression. The MR Solutions preclinical carrier is available with a bore size of 17 cm or 31 cm and is customized for each type of scanner, the company said.
