MR Solutions has launched a cryogen-free 7-tesla, preclinical MRI system.
The initial device, which has a bore of 17 cm, will be followed later in the year with a range of scanners with larger bore sizes. It can be fitted with a clip-on SPECT camera, and a PET ring may be incorporating inside the system.
MR Solutions has been able to dispense with the usual liquid helium cooling system by using a new magnet design that enables the use of a standard low-temperature fridge to cool the magnet to the required 4 K (-269° C), according to the company.
The magnet in the new 7-tesla MRI system has an elliptical field-of-view, and the magnetic field strength can be adjusted from 0 to 7 tesla.
