Siemens Healthcare presented new CT applications for dose reduction at the recent Congress of the International Society of Pediatric Radiology (IPR) in London.
Siemens introduced Care kV, a new CT application for dose reduction. The technique automatically recommends the correct tube voltage for the selected tube current in mA, and adapts all other parameters to the selected kV level. This enables dose to be reduced by 60%, the company said.
Also, Siemens introduced Safire (sinogram affirmed iterative reconstruction), a method for reconstruction of CT images based on raw CT data that builds on iterative reconstruction in image space. The company is offering new hardware that reduces the time required to reconstruct slice images in comparison with iterative reconstruction in image space.
